YUAG Researchers Search for Egyptian Blue

Learn more about the team of Yale researchers that are working at the Yale University Art Gallery (YUAG) to find one of the long lost pigments—Egyptian Blue—from ancient Assyrian reliefs. Egyptian Blue is a color similar to blue turquoise and is considered to be one of the first synthetic pigments dating back to over 4,500 years ago.Through the use of both LED lights and a digital projector, the researchers are finding a way to track the ancient pigment through the chemical interaction between the light and one of the chemical components of Egyptian Blue.Read more about the research being conducted at the YUAG here.
