3D Printing: The Future is Now

Ten years ago 3D printing became more widely accessible.  How fast it would proliferate the market was, at that time, unpredictable. 3D printing actually dates back to the 1980s, but the modern form of the process was only developed in the mid-2000s. The technology is still in its early stages, but has slowly made the transition toward being more affordable and accessible and is particularly useful in the sciences and the museum world. Watch the video below to see how 3D printing is being used by the Yale Peabody Museum to restore the unique natural history dioramas in the museum’s collection.
