Nota Bene features Albion Hand Press

The Yale Library newsletter recently featured the Albion Hand Press that had until now been kept in the basement of Sterling Memorial Library. The Albion Hand press dates back to the 1830s and is now on display in a room adjacent to the Linonia & Brothers Room in Sterling.                                              Other press equipment is now housed at Yale Printing and Publishing Services (YPPS) as part of a partnership with the Yale University Library to teach students about printing history. The recently formed Bibliographical Press Governance Committee (BPGC) will develop programming for the SML and YPPS locations. Professor are welcome to contact Jae Rossman (jae.rossman@yale.edu), chair of the BPGC, to schedule an introduction to printing technology and a live printing demonstration on the Albion press for groups of 15 or fewer students. Visitors are welcome to stop by during Library hours to see the press. If you are interested in reading more click here.
