YPPS is now an FSC certified vendor. The Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC) is an international not for-profit, multi-stakeholder organization established in 1993 to promote responsible management of the world’s forests. One of its main tools for achieving this is independent certification and labeling of forest products, which offers customers the ability to choose products from socially and environmentally responsible forestry.

Throughout the academic year, Yale Printing & Publishing Services (YPPS) produces hundreds of perfect bound books for departments and members of the Yale Community. This type of book finishing can be difficult and requires special equipment, expert design knowledge and experienced print technicians. The University is fortunate to have all of these resources on campus under a single roof at YPPS.
The book binding service is a valuable campus resource. YPPS recently teamed up with Yale University Press to produce their galley books, an advanced uncorrected pag proof publication. Over the past three years the production demand for these books increased along with the desire to continue delivering a quality product. To balance these demands, YPPS focused their attention on production workflow creating a more streamlined approach improving quality in both customer service and production.
The galley books are provided as soft proofs to the market while finishing touches are made before the final publication. YPPS produces about 600 galley books monthly, and enjoys being part of the creative process. Patricia Tucker and Nancy Beausoleil are YPPS’s key account representatives who tirelessly manage all orders placed by Yale University Press.
Once the galley books are approved and move to final publication, they are available to the public through the University Press’s website, yalebooks.com. The Yale University Press is known as a catalyst publishing group, that provides scholarly works disseminating “lux et veritas” (truth and light) on a global level.
